I was asked to take pictures at the Eugene Bridal Show – Oregon Wedding Showcase. Here are a few. Jeff was also filming at the show which will be on the Oregon Wedding Showcase website. We will be at the January Salem and Eugene bridal shows as well.

You can see Jeff off to the right filming.

In one part of the fashion show you had a woman in a tux. It doesn’t show in the picture but her pumps were awesome.

Not Your Typical Portland Oregon Bridal Show

•October 26, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Come see us at the Bravo Wedding Affair, November, 15 2009 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in downtown Portland OR. This is not your ordinary bridal show. Jeffrey has been selected to be the videographer at the show. So while I man our booth (so to speak), Jeffrey will be walking around filming all the other amazing wedding venders. In Bravo’s own words, their wedding show “is designed to be an intimate setting where brides and grooms can experience wedding services first hand and meet personally with caterers, photographers, stationers, dress designers, and other wedding experts to get their advice.”  Also see our article on Hiring a Professional Videographer on their blog.

Lights in the Attic – only OR videographer selected to be in the Green Bride Guide

LIGHTS IN THE ATTIC FROM SALEM SELECTED FOR INCLUSION IN GREENBRIDEGUIDE.COM’S NEW DIRECTORY OF GREEN WEDDING VENDORS

GreenBrideGuide.com Launches the Largest and Most Comprehensive Directory of Credible & Vetted Products & Services in New “Yellow Pages” of Eco-Friendly Wedding Resources

NEW HAVEN, CT, October 5, 2009 – It was announced today that Lights in the Attic from Salem has been selected by the Green Bride Guide, the #1 green wedding website, for inclusion in their new Green Wedding Directory www.greenbrideguide.com/directory) which launched in BETA today.  The Green Bride Guide is the most comprehensive and credible green wedding resource online. The Directory is like a Yellow Pages for green weddings that provides a centralized resource of green wedding vendors, searchable by geographic area.  To address consumer concerns about greenwashing, the Green Bride Guides screens all vendors in the directory and displays their green practices in their profiles.

The Green Wedding Directory allows couples to find green wedding service providers in their area, like restaurants that serve local, organic food and wedding planners that specialize in eco-friendly parties. The new directory includes vendors in every major wedding market in the United States as well as in Canada and the United Kingdom, with additional international expansion plans over time.

In a survey of brides-to-be:

Almost 70% reported that they would like to buy more green products for their wedding but do not know where to look online.

More than 60% said that green wedding products are too scattered and that it takes too long to track them down.

Moreover, brides-to-be are concerned about greenwashing, the passing off of non-green items as eco-friendly with:

85% worrying about claims that a product is eco-friendly when it is not and

90% believing that it is “very important” or “essential” for a green site to rate vendors and their products for their greenness to help guide purchases.

As a result, The Green Bride Guide addresses consumer confidence issues by only allowing eco-friendly products and services that meet published criteria to list on the site. Each vendor in the directory receives a “leaf” rating as well as user reviews.

The Green Bride Guide launched in February 2009 and covers all aspects of the big day and beyond including engagement, location, invitations, bridal party attire, flowers, the ceremony, the reception, gifts and the honeymoon.  The site offers green products, like recycled paper invitations, along with pictures and stories from real green weddings, advice from industry experts and seasonal décor ideas.

We are thrilled to be included in the Green Bride Guide. We are the only Oregon Videographer to be included in their guide. So far we have 3/5 leaves and are working towards smarter ways to go greener. Lights in the Attic –  Cinematic Wedding Films

Salem and Eugene Bridal Shows for 2009-2010

•September 28, 2009 • Leave a Comment

It is that time of year again. The bridal shows start. We will be at the Oregon Wedding Showcase in Salem, OR 10/3/2009 – 10/04/2009 and 1/23/2010 – 1/24/2010. We will be at the Eugene shows 10/17/2009 – 10/18/2009 and 1/9/2010 – 1/10/2010. (It feels weird to be typing the year 2010). Anyways, you can get more information about the bridal shows in Salem, Oregon or Eugene, Oregon at the Oregon Wedding Showcase website. I have decided we need new postcards for the bridal shows this year. I can’t decide between the colored or the B & W photo of my beautiful model bride Brittany. Hopefully I will have them ordered in time for the Eugene show. Here they are. I just love how they turned out though. Finally, Lights in the Attic Creative Media’s Open House

•September 27, 2009 • Leave a Comment

We (Lights in the Attic Creative Media-Wedding and Event Videography) moved into our studio back in July but with a such a crazy summer we just now had our Open House. We also had a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Salem Chambers of Commerce that we are active in. Marion from Myriad Cake Design and Jennifer from Face Body and Beauty participated as well. Here is a picture of Marion, Jeffrey and Jennifer cutting the ribbon (pardon the pictures-they were taken with an i-phone.)

Here is Jeffrey talking with Tim and you can see Marion’s cupcakes in the background. Pistachio was my favorite.

We all share an open space. Here is our portion of the studio.

Historical Deepwood Estate

Here is a commercial spot Jeffrey did awhile ago of the Historical Deepwood Estate in Salem, OR. Deepwood Estate even has the original carriage house on the property and pretty gardens to walk through. It is a popular spot for local photographers to take the bride and groom for their pictures.

Wedding and Event Videography

•September 20, 2009 • 1 Comment

Jeffrey and I just got back from the annual WEVA conference (Wedding and Event Videographers Association) in Orlando, FL. Wow did it fly by. It went from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM and was jam packed with info. We were in awe to see what other videographers have been doing. We are currently finishing up this wedding season but can’t wait til next wedding season to implement everything we have learned. My favorite class The Lean Forward Moment taught by Henry Hollyn who was the music editor for Sophie’s Choice, The Cotton Club and Heathers. He currently teaches at USC. I learned so much from that class.  Using music to help the audience understand the story you are trying to convey. We also attended a lot of marketing, editing and concept classes. It was well worth the long flight from Portland, OR.

Reed Opera House Wedding

•August 1, 2009 • 1 Comment

Here is the highlight reel of Brian and Blair’s wedding. As you can tell, a very fun couple to film. The cool thing about getting married at the Reed Opera house- Trinity Ballroom, is all the nooks, crannies, and alleyways in downtown Salem. It really makes for a great looking wedding film. I love Blair’s wedding dress with the sparkly belt/sash.
